UPDATE: Apple released iOS 4.3.4 patch to stop JailbreakMe but it wont stop other ways of Jailbreaking
Now that Comex released the official JailbreakeMe 3.0 for the iPhone, iPad and the iPod Touch, many security experts have raised concerns. Comex used a PDF exploit to easily jailbreak you Apple device, without even having to use a computer. All you have to do is go to jailbreakeme.com on your Apple device and with a couple of button clicks your Jailbroken.
Security experts say that same vulnerability in the iOS can be used for malicious proposes on websites when you're browsing the web on your Apple device. Apple has confirmed a patch to fix this exploit in the next iOS software update. Apple did not mention when the update is coming but they are working on it for iOS 4.3.4.
If you are Jailbroken and want to patch the same vulnerability that lets you easily jailbreak your device. You can download and install PDF Patcher 2 from Cydia. PDF Patcher 2 will let you keep your Jailbreak but also patch the vulnerability from anyone trying to do harm to you.
If you're not Jailbroken or don't want to install the Cydia patcher you will have to wait for Apple to release iSO 4.3.4. If you take this route you should not download any unknown PDF files. Jailbreakers should stay away from this update, when Apple does release the iOS 4.3.4 patch. If you do upgrade you will lose your jailbreak and you will might have to wait for another way to jailbreak your device. In the mean time it is highly recommended to save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella. This will help you downgrade to an older version of iOS if you need. We will keep you updated if anything changes.
