Sony PlayStation Vita will be released in Japan on December 17

At the Tokyo Game Show press conference, Sony announced the PlayStation Vita will be released on December 17, 2011, in Japan.
The new handheld gaming system will cost 29,980 yen, thats about $250 in the states. Sony has also partnered up with NTT DoCoMo for the console's prepaid 3G service which will cost 980 yen ($13) for 20 hours or 4,980 yen ($65) for 100 hours. Sony also said that the first 500 units sold, will come with 100 hours of free prepaid 3G connectivity.
Capcom has announced they will release Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the same day as Vitas release and Square Enix announced the original Final Fantasy X game for the PlayStation 2 will be remastered for the Sony PS Vita.
As for the rest of us in the western part of the world, seems like we will have to wait until 2012. Best Buy is already accepting preorders for the PS Vita, with an Estimate Arrival date of 12/31-01/06/2011. Click here to pre-order the Sony PS Vita from Best Buy.
